Eeeekkkk.... A Bear Sighting in East Texas

E is for Eeeeeeeeek!!
collage 3
Okay, so it wasn't a REAL bear,
but it sure was a cute one!
And look at that face covered with Cheetos and DIRT!
Even the bear towel hasn't been safe from our new pup....
Notice that sad looking, chewed up left ear?!

We went back to Camp Tonkawa this Wednesday.
This time, my niece and nephew got to go.
The boys tried building a "beaver damn" to stop the creek up.
But it seemed pretty dangerous to me.
If they were even somewhat successful,
I think once all the water built up behind it...
It could've come rolling down on them!!

I made them tear it apart.

collage 1 Again, another boy with NO FEAR!

Little Lou Lou loves to just do her own thing most of the time.
I snuck around behind and sat down behind a big tree just to watch her.
And of course take pics.
She's so serious... playing, yet watching other people as well.

I'll leave you with the above picture of the peacock.
Okay, I know it's a wild turkey.
But it's an inside joke...
Obviously SOMEONE that was with us thought it was a peacock.
I won't name names... CHERYL :-)
I marked the name out, so I know you can't see it now. hehe

As with our all our outings,
I took WAY too many pictures.
I'll have more to share later!!!

  1. That place looks like it would be a great one to sit back and chill at.

And maybe barbecue just a bit.

  2. cute bear and other wild critters...well, maybe not the turkey so much! :)

  3. It looks like you had a real fun time with the kids at the park. Great picture taking. I have a Nikon too. I kept it on 'auto' for the first two years. Now I'm learning to use 'A' for aperture. Thanks for visiting my blog.

  4. Beautiful pictures. We did something similar recently...I still have sand in my dryer!

  5. Ha! Cute pictures! What a cute bear you found :)

  6. awww great to see the children out in the wkld... oooh watch out that bear could give a nasty growl, heheeeee.. bears should be cuddled!
lovely blog post thanku for taking time to come along and comment on mine too! new follower. :-)

  7. Oh! We have the same peacocks around here!!! Looks like a great day!

  8. New follower from the Happiness is Hop... I love your blog name--can SOOO relate!!
    SUPER shots of the "bear"
like the boys on the tree.

  9. So gorgeous place, the water looks so inviting.

  10. Looks like they all had a blast! Great action shots! =)

  11. Hi..I just joined you. Your pictures are cute of kids in action. Your blog title is totally how I spent my younger years with little ones... House was not always clean. Hum.

  12. What a wonderful spot to relax and watch the children at play! The dirty cheeto face is so endearing surrounded by the ragged bear towel. You photos are wonderful!!

  13. Looks like a perfect summer is shaping up in your neck of the woods!

  14. Kids and sand and dirt and fun -- great captures, Shannon! Love them all!

Thank you for sharing at Rural Thursdays this week. xoxo

  15. Great summery pics. I really like the picture of the peacock, um turkey.

  16. You always get great pics! I love the first few of that scary bear ;o) So cute!

  17. You guys always look like you're having a blast! Great pics!

  18. Ha...we have wild turkeys around here. My boys love 'em!

That place is soooooo cool. Love all of the fun photos, too.

  19. What a cool place! Looks like a lot of fun!

  20. I want that teddy bear towel for myself how cool is that!
You keep making me jealous of your lovely summer weather it's not fair wish it would stop raining. I love all your pictures what great memories you guys are making x

  21. OK I want a park like that near me that water looks heavenly. The bear is adorable. Ahh boys I totally understand as a mom of 3 the youngest being the fearless one of them all, bent and determined to give me heart failure long before my time.

  22. Wow! You take awesome pics! I love the wild turkey. Visiting from Saturday Sharefest.

  23. We have only one animal hooded towel and it is the same one as yours, lol! Luckily our border collie has not developed a taste for towels so it is still okay. Wow, East Texas looks exactly like where I wished we lived...we are in the Houston area and I cannot say it is pretty at all! It's amazing how different areas of TX can look so drastically different. I may be as photo obsessed as you but have not had the courage to get off of autofocus myself...and I really should since my autofocus hasn't functioned consistently since one of my kids is suspected of dropping the Nikon at some point! I look forward to seeing more of your blog...feel free to drop by Momof3withaPhD sometime...on fb with spaces between the words or as a dot com for the website;)...I promise you'll find gratuitous child & puppy photos!

  24. It looks like a fabulous place to spend the day. Beautiful. And I love the bear towel. Looks like you all had a great time. Thanks for sharing.

  28. These pictures were wonderful. Isn't it cool how kids are kids no matter what decade?

Those pictures of the little boys in the creek were timeless.

    And that bear.

    Oh my.

    Excellently frightening.

Thanks for a cute link for the letter "E".

  29. Haha! What a beautiful peacock! ;) The bear was just adorable too! :) Your pictures were so cute! Loved looking at them.

Thanks for linking up your photo to Oh Snap!shots of the Week. I apologize for not posting the party last week and leaving you hanging. This week's party is now up though if you'd like to link up. :)

  30. Well I would say that that youngster is more cute than a real bear. And the place looks so refreshing.

I love, love, love comments =) And I try my best to respond to each and every one! Thanks for taking the time to leave me bloggy love!
